Programs & Services

The Community Asthma Partnership at Wolfson Children’s Hospital (CAPW) offers a variety of programs and services to help families and communities learn about and manage asthma, including:

A² Asthma Action

The A² Asthma Action Asthma-Friendly School Program offers asthma education to increase and enhance the knowledge of students, families, nurses, teachers, coaches, maintenance and front office staff about asthma.

The program also offers comprehensive case management and linkages to primary care physicians to assure successful asthma management for students with asthma.

Child Care Centers Asthma Training

Asthma education is provided for employees and parents in child care centers about managing children’s asthma and how to respond in an emergency situation.

Community Asthma Workshops

Community Asthma Workshops are held bi-monthly at THE PLAYERS Center at Wolfson Children’s Hospital. Workshops are currently held one Tuesday evening (6-8pm) and one Saturday morning (10am-12pm) each month. Children and parents who visited the Emergency Department during the prior month to seek treatment for asthma are especially encouraged to attend the free workshop.

Children are taught to manage their asthma through interactive games and activities, while parents attend an adult class with a question and answer session to learn about controlling their children’s asthma. All families receive an asthma toolkit, including a spacer and hypoallergenic pillowcase.

Easy Breathing®

Easy Breathing® is an asthma management program for Pediatricians and Primary Care Practitioners. It includes training and tools to improve recognition of asthma among children, as well as classification of asthma severity.

Easy Breathing® adheres to the National Asthma Education and Prevention Program Guidelines of 2007.

Free Sports Physicals

Every August, THE PLAYERS Center for Child Health  at Wolfson Children’s Hospital, Nemours Children’s Specialty Care and The Jacksonville Sports Medicine Program  offer free sport physicals, which are required for every student athlete participating in school sports.
