Overview

Asthma is the leading cause of missed school days for kids and the number-one reason children are hospitalized in Northeast Florida. Now more than ever, it is essential for schools and child care centers to understand the disease, its triggers and how to help children and families effectively manage asthma.

The Community Asthma Partnership at Wolfson (CAPW) offers the necessary tools to help administrators, teachers, coaches, volunteers, and childcare providers:

  • Learn asthma warning signs
  • Eliminate triggers
  • Know what to do when an asthma attack strikes
  • Help children manage their asthma

CAPW programs offered for schools and child care centers include:

  • A² Asthma Education for elementary, middle, and high schools
  • Asthma assessment and education for child care centers
  • Free sports physicals every August
